Role: Executive Director of Administration
Pastor John has been an integral part of our congregation and staff since the “early years,” having served with Pastor Jack Hayford since 1972. John not only brings his expertise to the administration of our congregational life, but he brings a spiritual perspective as well. John believes that service and attention to detail should flow to the body through administration. We see this is Jesus’ call to Peter to “feed My lambs,” “tend My sheep,” and “feed My sheep.” Every task is done to reflect the Shepherd’s care for the flock. (John 21:15-17)
The Farmers have been in ministry for over 35 years. Pastor John has a B.A. from LIFE Bible College, and an M.A. from California Theological Seminary. He has directed many camps and is often asked to speak on the subject of administration at conventions, seminars, and workshops throughout the Nation. His ability has been critically acknowledged as he was named in Who’s Who in Christian Management (1985 through 1989).
Pastor John’s partner in ministry is his wife, Linda, who has not only served in Pastoral Administration as well, but in our Pastoral Services and Music departments. She also most recently served in our denomination’s central offices in communications, properties, and as the convention registrar. Currently, Linda continues as the senior organist, here at our church. In his spare time, John likes to bowl, and work with HO scale model trains. A shaping word in John’s life is: “The prophetic must precede the process.” This requires that we always seek the mind of the Lord before we begin to act. In this way, administration not only takes on a spiritual foundation, but flows into the excellence of care that the Lord intends for the whole congregation.
