The Lord has given Louis a heart to see worship transform our lives, our City, and our day. This passion for spiritual transformation is reflected in his desire to “build places of worship.” Louis says, “As we worship God, not just with our minds, but with our hearts, in giving, in caring, in extending ourselves beyond our personal comfort, we increase our dependence on Him, and His presence will come among us—into our lives to renew and rebuild us.”
Louis’ training and experience are extensive. He received his Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy, his Post Graduate Honors degree in Accountancy, and Certificate in the Theory of Accountancy (US Masters equivalent) from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He has held positions in accounting in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and here in California before coming to serve at The Church On The Way. His work experience includes involvement with affordable housing, community redevelopment projects, and the areas of property management, financing and financial reporting, and in recent years leading several software implementation projects specializing in customized management information.
Louis and his wife, Lee, have served in Children’s Ministries and Crown Ministries. Louis also serves as Treasurer of Los Angeles Community Builders Inc. Lee home-schools their four active children. In their spare time, Louis enjoys a round of golf, tackling his kids and doing sudoku puzzles. With four youngsters, “time alone” for Louis and Lee is rare, but memorable occasions include sushi delivery and a Lord of the Rings DVD. Louis and Lee both put prime importance on the impact of “being with the Body” in the discipleship process. Louis reflects “God first had to break down the junk in us, and then completely rebuild our lives. Attending and plugging in at The Church On The Way has been a primary means God has used. It has been a time of purification, spiritual training, and increasing dependence on the Lord.”
