DEARLY HELD FAMILY TRAITS
Every family has its unique characteristics. These traits are inherent in the genetic code and are passed down from generation to generation. So it is with The Church On The Way. God has established certain principles in our church family that are evident in the way we live, worship, and reach our Community and World. These are what make us who we are today.
Worship
We are a worshiping church. This is a transcendent priority—we will never sacrifice worship on the altar of conventionality nor convenience. We will be unhesitatingly joyful, refreshing, and unashamed in our worship. Yet, we’ll also be tender and healing in our expressions. In being worshipers, we have nothing to prove, yet everything to give to God who has given us so much!
Prayer
Prayer is one of our primary characteristics. A prophetic word, given to our Founding Pastor years ago, was that we were to pray as if no one else was praying. In prayer we invade the impossible, bring Heaven’s power to Earth, and violently wrench from the enemy’s grasp what belongs to God and His people.
The Word
We are a church that consistently and passionately teaches the Word of God. We will never sacrifice our study of the Word to inspirational thoughts, eloquent speeches, or political viewpoints. Why? Because Jesus said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Matthew 24:35). His Word is eternal, powerful, and our very life: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).
Evangelism
We are a church that evangelizes—one that rescues the lost. This is not an option for us as true followers of Christ. Jesus said, “Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life . . . “ (Matthew 28:19 MSG). This is our assignment and our greatest joy. With a sense of the Father’s urgency, and with every ounce of the Spirit’s energy and strength working in us, we will search for and rescue the lost.

We call ourselves The Church On The Way because of our:
- Central LOCATION —in the heart of the San Fernando Valley;
- DIRECTION—we’re on the way, ministering today; and
- EMPHASIS—on Jesus Christ Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Affiliation
We are part of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (www.foursquare.org). We emphasize a complete declaration of the Word of God, underscoring the four essential ministries of the Lord Jesus to those who will believe. These truths are symbolized in our logo as follows:
- Jesus Christ the Savior—The Cross (John 3:16; Acts 4:12);
- Jesus Christ the Baptizer—The Dove (Mark 1:8; Acts 2:4);
- Jesus Christ the Healer—The Cup (Hebrews 13:8; James 5:14-15);
- Jesus Christ the Coming King—The Crown (John 14:3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
